J. Burr Gibbons was District Governor of our Rotary District - number 136, at that time.
Ladies' Night was held in February with a fine orchestra. The party was given along patriotic lines because war clouds were forming in Europe. Eddie and Beth Greenberger were in charge of the affair.
The Club celebrated its 25th anniversary. Florence Ambrose, our longtime pianist, presented the Club with an elegant hand-made gavel inscribed with words commemorating the McAlester Rotary Club's 25th anniversary.
One of our better programs was sponsored by the National Conference of Christians and Jews. The guest speaker was Dr. Carr, of Tulsa.
There was a fine inter-city meeting, with the McAlester Club hosting the entire Muskogee Club.
Lloyd Puckett received the nickname "Coatless Joe" when he attended a meeting of the Claremore Rotary Club and forgot to take his coat.
