International Service

Rotary Avenue of Service
International service describes the many programs and activities which Rotarians
undertake to advance international understanding, goodwill and peace. International
service projects are designed to meet humanitarian needs of people in many
lands.
Group Study Exchange Committee
This committee handles our Club's participation in the Group Study Exchange
Program of Rotary International, working with our Rotary District closely. This
includes arranging for short-term hosting of group members who visit our particular
area, most commonly.
Rotary Foundation Committee
This committee has a goal of educating our Club members about the Rotary Foundation
of Rotary International, and encouraging contributions from our Club treasury
and from individual Club members. Another goal is to increase the number of
Paul Harris Fellows in our Club ($1,000
contribution required).
Our local Club also has its own fully-approved charitable foundation - McAlester
Rotary Club Foundation, Inc. - which is used for worthy local projects.
International Youth Exchange
Committee
This committee handles our Club's participation in the Youth Exchange Program
of Rotary International, working closely with our Rotary District. This includes
educating our members about this invaluable program, and also making arrangements
through our Rotary District for outgoing participants among the youth of this
area, and hosting incoming participants (long-term
and short-term) from other countries in
our area.
