Italian Festival of McAlester, Oklahoma
The Italian Festival of McAlester,
held on Saturday and Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend at the Pittsburg County
Regional Exposition Center (Fairgrounds), is one of the largest community
projects each year in McAlester. The Festival is sponsored by McAlester Italian
Festival Foundation, Inc. (a not-for-profit charitable foundation) and has
had Rotary involvement for many years. A number of Rotarians have been active
in the leadership of the Italian Festival for many years. Two Rotarians have
served as General Chairperson of the event - Hi Impson and his daughter, Kim
Impson (Mrs. Robert S. Duran). McAlester Rotary Club, as a Club Project, provides
a group of Rotarians who staff the cafeteria-style serving line at the Festival's
giant Italian Dinners Food Tent for several hours on Saturday every year.
This is done by the Italian Festival Committee, under the Community Service
Avenue of Service for our club.
